The Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) is proud to announce the inauguration of the Outreach Building, a new state-of-the-art facility set to enhance healthcare services and strengthen biomedical research in Portugal. The official opening ceremony will take place on April 1st at 5:00 PM in Loulé.

The Outreach Building is designed to support cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements, providing top-tier conditions for research and development in health sciences. This facility will soon house several essential functional units, including:

  • Biobank, a crucial infrastructure for the collection and preservation of biological samples for medical and biomedical research;
  • Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Bank, dedicated to storing stem cells with significant therapeutic potential;
  • Entomology Center, focused on the study of disease-carrying vectors and epidemiological surveillance;
  • Genetics Laboratory (Genelab), playing a pivotal role in genetic research applied to human health.

The inauguration event will be attended by key representatives from the healthcare sector, academics, researchers, and institutional figures, reinforcing ABC’s strategic role in promoting scientific research and improving healthcare services at both regional and national levels.
