The Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), through the Center for Simulation and Surgical Training in Loulé, participated in the National Surgery Congress with the presentation of a scientific poster entitled “IMMERSION IN LAPAROSCOPY – A QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE”. This study, developed by Bárbara Santos, Beatriz Mendes, Pedro Almeida, Margarida Bernardo, Fabiana Silva, Joana Fontainhas, Leonor Ávila, Maria Vanessa Villasana, Miguel Silvestre, and Daniel Cartucho on behalf of the working group, highlights the impact of research and training in laparoscopy using the endo trainers of ABC’s Experimental Surgery Simulation Center.

The presented research underscores the importance of continuous and structured practice in surgical training, fostering an immersive learning experience in minimally invasive techniques. Endo trainers, essential tools for acquiring and refining surgical skills, create a simulated environment that enhances technical development, builds confidence among trainees, and enables the assessment of their progression.

The results reinforce the role of ABC’s Experimental Surgery Center as a national reference in training physicians in laparoscopic surgery. Participation in the National Surgery Congress represents a unique opportunity to share knowledge and gain recognition for the innovative work carried out by ABC’s research and training team.

With this initiative, ABC reaffirms its commitment to excellence in medical training and applied research, driving significant advancements in surgical practice and the quality of patient care.
