The Pharmacovigilance Unit of Algarve and Lower Alentejo (UFALBA) has the mission to contribute to Public Health protection by monitoring the safety profile of human medicines marketed in the national territory. This contributes to the generation of knowledge about the safety of human medicines and, in this way, aligns with INFARMED and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The Pharmacovigilance Unit of Algarve and Lower Alentejo (UFALBA) was established in 2017 and is coordinated by the Risk Management of Medicines Directorate (DGRM) of INFARMED. Its headquarters are located at the University of Algarve, in the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (Faro). The main activity of UFALBA is the collection, analysis, and evaluation of suspected adverse drug reactions (ADR) from the districts of Faro and Beja.
